Weymouth defender Ben Greenwood was taken to hospital after receiving a 'nasty gash' to his eye against Chippenham.

The former AFC Bournemouth man was forced off halfway through the first half in Tuesday (August 20) night's 2-0 defeat to the Bluebirds.

Terras boss Mark Molesley confirmed the defender was taken to hospital to receive treatment on his cheek bone and it remains unclear how long he could be out for.

Speaking to Echosport: "He got a nasty gash to his eye and was caught on his cheekbone with an elbow which wasn't nice.

"He has had to go and get some stiches on that, so we will have to see what that is.

"It is still quite raw after the game so we will see how he is when he reports back to training."

Greenwood only joined Weymouth in the summer but has already started all three of the team's National League South games this season.
