Weymouth manager Mark Molesley has admitted he is 'taking risks' with his new look squad following the 2-0 defeat to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.

The Terras lost their opening home game of the  season but Molesley is not letting the two defeats stop him doing what he thinks is best for the club's long term future.

Speaking to Echosport after the game, he conceded he was 'disappointed' in the result but that the 'short term pain' will only make his team stronger.

He said: "We did not perform well enough, I will be there one to admit that.

"Every time we gained control, we lost it but we probably need the short term pain with this group.

"I am taking risks but we will work hard on the training pitch and it will take courage from the players.

"We will lick our wounds and work on things we are not going to get sidetracked by two results,

"I hope when we look back on this moment of struggle it will have helped us as I know if we stick to our guns it will bring long term success."

Molesley also admitted that there were a few 'teething problems' with his side but was pleased with some positives from the game.

The Terras boss thought that had they equalised when Brooklyn Genesini's strike hit the bar things could have been different

He added: "We hit the underside of the bar and if that goes in the game has a different look to it and maybe we could go on and win the game - but we didn't and then we conceded a sloppy goal."
