Dorchester sports continued their winning start to the new season with a third win in the Dorset Premier League on Saturday.

Cobham Sports visited The Avenue but were on the wrong end of a 3-0 thumping to Ashley James' Sports side.

The visitors conceded early after Joel Hewitt opened the scoring in the first two minutes and they never really recovered from that early setback.

Further goals from Alex Godfrey and Dylan Ellis gave Dorchester a well earned victory.

Dorchester got off to a great start after Cobham defender Toby Ord was caught trying
to shield the ball out of play for a goal kick.

The robust Derek Wall was too clever for him and the Dorchester striker got to the ball first and hit a low cross which was diverted past Jacob Deakin in the Cobham
goal by Hewitt.

Cobham responded to the early setback reasonably well knocking the ball around but too often they were giving the ball away too easily.

However, Charlie Shears had a chance in the 14th minute for the visitors but his shot was comfortably saved by Nick Hutchings.

Cobham should have equalised in the 29th minute when Kingsley Eze-Sunday's cross found Charlie Hammond, but the forward poked wide.

With Cobham searching for an equaliser in the second half, the game opened up.

This suited Dorchester and Alex Godfrey was left finding plenty of room and began to
dictate much of the home side's forward play .

Just before the hour mark, he linked up with Hewitt to add to double Dorchester’s lead.

Dorchester put the game to bed in the 82nd minute, a defensive mix up allowed Toby Kelly to beat a couple of players and his pass found Ellis who made no mistake firing into the far corner of the net.

Next up for Dorchester Sports is a trip to Portland Reserves on Wednesday, August 21.
