HEMEL HEMPSTEAD 2

Ajayi, 14 Iaciofano, 76

Weymouth were beaten in their first league game of the season as former manager Bobby Wilkinson returned to the Bob Lucas.

The former Terras boss, now in charge of Hemel Hempstead, saw his side come out on top with 2-0 win over Mark Molesley's side.

Goals from Kyle Ajayi and Joe Iaciofano meant that the Terras suffered their second defeat of the National League South campaign in as many games.

Molesley made one change to his starting line up from the defeat to Tonbridge last weekend with Josh McQuoid coming in for Keelan O'Connell.

Weymouth got off to a bright start in the game though as Francis Amartey beating two defenders early on but his shot could only find the side netting.

But with 14 minutes on the clock, it was the visitors who would open the scoring.

Ajayi was well placed in the box to get his head on to a looping cross and nodded the ball past Billy Terrell from 12 yards.

Weymouth looked to get straight back into the game from the restart, but Brooklyn Genesini's shot was deflected behind for a corner.

Five minutes later Terrell was called into action to deny the visitors a second goal after pulling off a brilliant save from Chris Smith's half volley.

From the resulting corner Alfie Cerulli headed towards goal, only to be denied by Terrell.

With over half an hour played, Tom Bearwish found Amartey but the striker's powerful shot from close range was saved by Craig King.

After the break, Terrell was again forced to keep the visitors out with a double save after a close range strike from Ricardo German.

The Tudors kept coming at Weymouth with Brandon Barzey the next player to try his luck, this time an ambitious long-range effort skimmed over the crossbar.

Genesini then came as close as it gets for the home side with his own long range strike coming crashing back off the bar.

With the Terras in search of an equaliser, Molesley shuffled his pack and made three changes with around 20 minutes to go.

Ezio Touray, Andreas Robinson and Calvin Brooks all coming on for Josh McQuoid, Tom Bearwish and Amartey.

Hemel made a couple changes of their own with Trae Cook-Appiah and Iaciofano replacing Cerulli and German.

Cook-Appiah was straight into the action with a low shot which was well saved by Terrell.

The Tudors other sub, Iaciofano then did find the back of the net as he smashed his shot past the Weymouth keeper from inside the box.

As the game entered the final ten minutes, Genesini fizzed a free kick just over the bar but the Terras were unable to muster a goal before the final whistle with the game ending 2-0.
