Dorchester Sports got off to winning ways with a solid 3-1 win over Poole Borough in the Dorset Premier League.
Former Dorchester and Weymouth striker Conor Jevon made it an uncomfortable start for Ashely James' charges after opening the scoring within 45 seconds.
Sports would recover well though, with goals from Joel Hewitt, Dylan Ellis and Alex Godfrey clinching all three points at Turlin Moor.
Jevon tapped in from close range after connecting with a cross almost instantly from kick off, and Sports struggled to get going in the first 20 minutes.
Josh Leake would find Hewitt in the box just after 20 minutes who wriggled past three Poole defenders before coolly slotting home.
Ellis would put Sports ahead soon after with a wonderful strike from the edge of the box which found the top corner.
After the break Jevon should of levelled things up but wasted his opportunity.
But it would be Dorchester who scored next, securing all three points as Godfrey finished well from inside the box.
Speaking to Echosport, James said: "In the first 20 minutes we didn't get a grip of the game and they started strong but we expected that and we weathered the storm but after that we were good.
"There were chances at both end but we deserved the three points and I am delighted to get off to a good start."
Next up Dorchester Sports take on Balti Sports on Tuesday night (August 13).
When asked about the game, James revealed that Brandon Hill dislocated his shoulder against Poole and would be out for 'several weeks' but is expecting Derek Wall, Todd Coombs and Liam Taylor to return.
He added: "Being a derby game form goes out the window and anyone can win on the night but being at home and with a win under our belts the lads are confident and we will give everything to win."
