Portland-based sailor Mickey Beckett will try again at Olympic glory tomorrow (August 7).
Poor wind conditions meant that the sailor, who trains out of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, saw his medal race in the Men's Dinghy postponed earlier today.
The Olympian will now attempt to bring home a medal in tomorrow's rescheduled race in Marseille.
Beckett currently sits in fourth place, and whilst a Gold medal is out of his reach, he is within just a few points of Bronze and still has a chance of winning Silver.
If he can secure a medal, it will be the second medal for Team GB's Olympic sailing team after Dorset's Emma Wilson took Bronze in the women's windsurfing last Saturday (August 3).
Speaking after the race was postponed earlier, Beckett said: “It is tough. You kind of get used to it in sailing.
"Sailing obviously relies on the winds and today there is not any. So we've sat just here, basically, on a boat, just chatting with my coach, chatting with the other sailors and just sort of stewing on what needs to be done. I guess we’ll come back tomorrow and give it another crack.”
