Dorset-based equestrian Chris Burton and his horse Shadow Man have won silver at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Australian athlete, who is based in the west Dorset village of Chedington, took second spot in the individual equestrian eventing programme on Monday, July 29, pipping Team GB's Laura Collett who secured bronze.
Shadow Man is stabled at the Chedington Equestrian Centre which is spread across 100 acres of west Dorset farmland
Burton and Shadow Man were equal third after the first round dressage on Sunday with a score of 22.
The horse and rider duo followed this up on Monday with a clear round in the cross-country stage and two clear show jumping rounds, adding just .4 of a time fault in the first round to his score
The Olympic event took part set to the back drop of the famous Chateau de Versailles which is approximately 12 miles on the outskirts of Paris.
This is the third Olympics Burton has competed in after making his Olympic debut at London 2012, finishing 16th individually.
He then rode at Rio 2016, where he was fifth individually and collected team bronze on having led individually after the cross-country but knocked two show jumps in each round on the final day.
BUrton was selected for the Tokyo Olympics, but withdrew as his ride Quality Purdey sustained a minor injury during the build-up.
In the spring of 2024, Chris moved back into eventing, with the aim of competing at the Paris Games in both eventing and show jumping.
The Dorset-based Burton took over the ride on 14-year-old Shadow Man from British event rider Ben Hobday to compete in Paris.
