The MAGPIES recorded back-to-back pre-season wins after goals from Shaquille Gwengwe, Luke Pardoe and Sean Wright secured a 3-1 win over Rayners Lane.

Tom Killick's side followed up victory over Hamworthy United with a comfortable win over the London based side having again fielded two separate sides for each half.

New signings Tom Bragg and Matt Buse made their Avenue debuts from the start, with Harry Redknapp Jr also featuring having made his loan spell from AFC Bournemouth permanent over the close season.

The hosts started brightly and with just eight minutes on the clock, broke the deadlock.

Magpies top scorer last term, Gwengwe, picked up from where he left off, with a fine finish after receiving the ball from Will Spetch's long pass, the striker beating a defender slotting the ball past the keeper.

A host of substitutions took place at the break, plus a change in system, with summer signings Harry Hutchinson, Kyran Samadi and Wayne Robinson all making their first appearances at The Avenue.

Sub Luke Pardoe doubled the hosts lead after breaking in from the left wing, latching onto Samadi's through ball and firing home into the bottom left corner.

Sean Wright added a third on 67 minutes, his second goal in as many games, with a fine first-time volley from a corner.

With 10 minutes to play the Isthmian League South Central visitors got a consolation through sub Rio Connell.

Next up for Tom Killick's side is a visit to the New Forest on Tuesday night against Bashley.
