DORCHESTER captain Gautham Rajendar believes his side must be at their best to beat Wimborne in their Wessex Internet Dorset Premier League tussle at The Leaze tomorrow (12.30pm).
The top two sides in the division go head-to-head, with Dorchester searching for their first title since 2021 and holders Wimborne aiming for back-to-back league wins.
By winning, Dorchester could put serious daylight between themselves and the Minstermen as they currently hold a massive 4.5 average-point lead.
However, Rajendar is exercising respect and will “fully appreciate the occasion”.
He told Echosport: “I wouldn’t say there’s extra pressure, but a top-of-the-table clash can change things for either side going into the last leg of the season.

“We’re fully aware of what they are capable of and we need to be at our best.
“We fully appreciate the occasion and what a win would do for us with the averages. The boys are excited and seem well up for it.”
Dorchester were rained off last weekend against Bere Regis but Rajendar believes the two-week gap will not hinder his side.
“Rained-off games don’t seem to have affected us in the past and hopefully, more of the same for this Saturday, too,” he added.
Dorchester Seconds host Cerne Valley in County Division Two, while Dorchester Thirds travel to Marnhull Thirds and Dorchester Fourths entertain Blandford Thirds in Six West and Six East respectively (all 1pm tomorrow).
Dorchester: Barrett, Belt, Hill, Jones, Kinsey, Maltby, Nobbs, Owens, Peach, Rajendar, Ryall.
Also in Premier One, Bere Regis are still awaiting their first victory in the 100-over segment after one draw, one loss and one no result.
Ahead of visiting Broadstone tomorrow (12.30pm), skipper Brian Keegan called upon his side to “take responsibility” in the longer format.
He said: “We’ve just got to get back to basics and hopefully I can win a toss so I can influence what happens, rather than to a certain extent being put on the back foot.
“Ultimately, whichever discipline we have to do first, we have to put a shift in and take responsibility.
“Then, hopefully that will get us a first win in this format. It can’t be more simple than that.”
Bere make three changes with Jacob Kennard, Rich Payne and Theo Talbot replaced by Pete Russell, Sean Walbridge and Adam Raymond.
Bere Regis Seconds host promotion-chasing Royal Challengers Sports in Division Two tomorrow (1pm).
Bere: Robertson, Russell, White, Munnings, S Goodhew, J Keegan, Murphy, Raymond, Walbridge, B Keegan, Rogerson.
Bere main sponsor: Booth Gadenne.
Bere first XI match ball sponsor: GMS Plumbing & Heating.
Bere second XI match ball sponsor: Chat-Com.
In Premier Two, Martinstown are also looking to better their record in the 100-over game.
Charlie Durant’s men have only taken one victory in three outings so far and trail leaders Chalke Valley by 3.63 average points ahead of a trip to third-placed Blandford tomorrow (12.30pm).
Durant said: “If we’re not careful, we’ll end up looking over our shoulder.
“Blandford are third and if they win they may well end up going above us. It’s a big game because we want to finish as high up as possible.
“It’s out of our hands now, we need Chalke Valley to slip up again if we’re to win the league, so to keep applying pressure with a win would be the best way to go about it.”
Martinstown make two changes, with Piers Foster and Matthew Lappin missing out for Ryan Blair and Jonny Samways.
Martinstown Seconds host Blandford Seconds in Division Four tomorrow (1pm).
Martinstown: Nichols, Lewis, S Williams, Ry Gerety, F Williams, Slocombe, Blair, Durant, Trotter, Ja Gerety, Samways.
Main sponsor: The Brewers Arms, Martinstown.
Portland Red Triangle are bracing for a significant game at Compton House in Division One tomorrow (1pm).
The sides are eighth and ninth out of the 10 teams respectively, with the bottom two going down.
Skipper Matt Randell, who scored a magnificent unbeaten 172 last week, knows the magnitude of the game.
He said: “We’re down in that bottom three, so the people around you are the most important ones to beat.
“We’ve targeted these two games as being our most important. We’re certainly looking to go out there and get another win, try and move ourselves up the table.
“Most people in the league are pretty well aware of how we’re going to play and some games it’s going to come off, and some games it’s not.”
Simon Proffitt and Joe Adkins miss out, with James Potts and Eddie Moles coming in.
Triangle’s seconds host Swanage Thirds at Reforne in Division Five tomorrow (1pm).
Triangle: M Kazimi, M Barrett, Laws, Randell, D Adkins, S Barrett, Marsh, Munro, I Kazimi, Moles, Potts.
Main sponsor: A2Z Landscaping.
At the other end of the table, Weymouth are in action at Stalbridge tomorrow (1pm).
Lloyd Beals’ men, led by the skipper’s 5-18, skittled Wimborne Seconds for 48 to handsomely defend 132 on a damp pitch.
Ahead of facing a Stalbridge side with a wealth of experience, Beals wants more from his batters.
He said: “I don’t know a lot about them, don’t recognise (many) of the players.
“The odd name I do recognise hasn’t played for a while. So, unchartered territory. I’m looking forward to it.
“Batting needs a kick up the backside, my batters need to apply themselves better.
“Good pitches are a premium so you need to be prepared to adjust or you’ll be left behind.”
Weymouth Seconds host Colehill in Division Four tomorrow (1pm).
Weymouth: Haylock, J Sapsworth, Walton, England, Gregory, Wills, Beals, P Sapsworth, Baker, Hoyes, Jose.
Matchday sponsor: Active Mobility.
Meanwhile, a team in desperate need of a victory is Puddletown, who are preparing for a bottom-of-the-table meeting at Sherborne Seconds tomorrow (1pm).
The Division Two counterparts are separated by only six points, meaning the winners will likely cement ninth place.
Puddle skipper Adam Barrett said: “We’re getting towards the business end of the season now.
“We really need to start picking up some wins sooner rather than later to drag ourselves out of this relegation battle we’ve found ourselves in.
“If I’m honest, we weren’t expecting to find ourselves in this position.
“Probably a little bit of complacency and people thinking that because it’s a lower division that we were just going to turn up and win.
“The availability has been a bit terrible. If players aren’t going to play, we’re not going to pick up victories.
“We’ve only got ourselves to blame but hopefully availability will improve, we’ve not left ourselves too much work and we can try and stay up.”
All-rounder Adam Weir returns to boost Puddletown for the battle.
Puddletown Seconds host Division Five leaders Rolex tomorrow (1pm).
Puddletown: Barrett, Knight, Weir, R Snow, Edwards, Ennals, D Morris, Crabb, Phillips, Derrion, Cross.
