VETERANS HUB 55

VETERANS Hub strengthened their position in third with a 55-19 win over Warmer Home Improvements A in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.

Warmer had a disadvantage from the start with only six players.

Veterans began strongly creating connections down the court and forcing defensive pressure. Warmer worked hard to keep possession but Veterans’ GK Jess Kennedy and GD Lauren Osgood continued to turn over the ball.

Warmer’s GA Becky Hallet made some interceptions and scored from them but this did not stop Veterans’ intensity of play with their GA Rachel Maisdon increasing the score. Veterans’ WD Carly Dean put the pressure on with tips and interceptions.

Veterans’ C Caroline Good continued to intercept but Warmer’s C Sarah Garman fought for the ball. Warmer’s GD Lauren Banks and GK Sarah Bryant worked hard but Veterans continued to extend their lead.

Warmer’s pressure continued despite Veterans’ big lead and although they were able to pull back a few goals it was Veterans who took the win.

EXE TRAINING 37

ZEST 21

EXE Training remain in the top half of Division One following a 37-21 win over Zest.

Exe started strongly in their defence, putting the pressure on Zest and securing impressive turnovers resulting in goals for their team. Zest’s GD Zoe Whitefield showed strong defence and remained composed when making good passing decisions.

Good interceptions from Exe’s WD Lucy Goode moved the ball down the court to their shooters and strong circle defence made it hard for Zest to score as Exe took the lead by one goal.

Strong defence from Zest resulted in turnovers although the game intensified with more errors. Exe’s GD Bex Medditch made some lovely pre-moves and smooth passes to see her team remain in the lead.

She continued with lovely interceptions despite good pressure from Zest as Exe took the win.

WJNC WAVES 40

WARMER B 20

WJNC Waves jumped above Warmer Home Improvements B in Division Two with a 40-20 triumph.

Waves’ GS Rubi Moss created space and positioned well in the circle while C Willow Charlton made some great interceptions. Warmer’s GK Kathy White also made great interceptions and skilfully kept the ball on court. 

Warmer’s defence improved making it difficult for Waves’ attackers as GD Gemma Bevins worked consistently hard with great interceptions and GK Izzy Hyde used strong passes to her team who moved the ball down to the shooters.

At the other end, Waves’ GD Amelia Robinson and WD Emily Dennis made valuable interceptions to extend the lead. Waves showed stability and stamina as they continued to produce accurate passes, especially WA Emily Rocket.

Bevins made much needed interceptions although Moss continued to score and increase Waves’ lead.

Costly footwork from Warmer provided the opportunity for Waves to extend their advantage into a match-winning lead.

EVOLVED TUNING 29

ARTIFEX KRAKENS 33

ARTIFEX Krakens stayed top of Division Two following a 33-29 win over Evolved Tuning.

Evolved edged into the early lead but Krakens fought back, while an injury to Evolved’s GD Imi Beal saw an early substitute to the team as the quarter ended with a draw.

Krakens retook the lead with good interceptions and possession.

Evolved’s GA Amelia Guppy moved around the circle well resulting in some nice controlled shots.

Krakens’ GK Chloe Calton kept up a strong defence and with accurate shooting from Krakens GS Candice Barton saw them preserve their lead.

Krakens continuing to edge ahead with concise play around the circle from their WA Chloe Griffiths who fed into GS Millie Hyde and Barton. 

A tense final quarter continued with accurate and controlled passes from both teams but it was Krakens whose concise play saw them take the win.
