MARK Molesley is relishing Weymouth’s third summer friendly at Wimborne Town as he awaits a reunion with former Terras striker Harry Baker tonight (7.30pm).

Molesley managed Baker in his first stint at Weymouth, plucking him from Gillingham Town and turning him into a super sub responsible for numerous important goals in Terras colours.

And Molesley will be reunited with a player who he affectionately rates as “my little hero” due to his efforts in claret and blue.

But the fixture carries more on it than a meeting with Baker as Weymouth continue the serious business of preparing for the 2024/25 Vanarama National League South season.

It comes after the 2-0 win over Sholing on Friday and Molesley expects more of the same in terms of difficulty tariff.

Molesley told Echosport: “I think it will be very similar.

"Sholing are going to have a really good season, they’re going to be very competitive, as are Wimborne.

“They had a great season last year, Tim Sills got them promoted. They’re building a really good club, quickly, on and off the pitch.

“I know a lot of good people down at that club so I’m really looking forward to going there.

“It’s certainly going to be a tough challenge and a local derby as well. I’ll hopefully see a few familiar faces and hopefully a few of our fans will travel to come and watch us.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Harry Baker, my little hero, and a few others as well.

“It’s what we want in pre-season, we planned this to get a challenge.

“I was really impressed with Hamworthy (Rec), Sholing really tested us and I know Wimborne will as well.

“We’re looking to keep learning and improve each time.”

Molesley also reported positive news on the fitness front for the Terras.

“I think we came through relatively unscathed,” he said.

“That’s the most important thing. Hopefully everyone will be involved again.”
