HAMWORTHY UNITED 0

DORCHESTER TOWN 4

DORCHESTER Town completed a regulation 4-0 dismissal of Hamworthy United to begin their pre-season campaign with a victory.

With three divisions separating the sides, two goals in each half proved the difference although the Magpies were largely dominant throughout, hitting the woodwork three times.

Watched on by the legendary figure of Harry Redknapp, in attendance to support grandson Harry, Dorchester had the first chance of the evening.

Hammers keeper Sam Moggeridge denied Luke Roberts, Shaq Gwengwe and Kyran Samadi in a triple opening after just five minutes of play.

Matt Buse and Roberts blazed over but the breakthrough would come in the 23rd minute as Roberts swung in a corner from the left, met by Wayne Robinson at the back stick who outmuscled his man to head home.

Moggeridge produced a big save to deny Gwengwe before the woodwork wobbled at both ends.

First, Hamworthy won a corner and were unlucky not to equalise when Dan Reeks glanced an attempt against the far post as the Hammers pressed on admirably.

Samadi was then unfortunate to see his low left-footed shot rebound off the post, although crucially the Magpies turned the resulting corner into a 2-0 lead.

Roberts was the assist-maker again, this time inviting Sean Wright to power home a header.

Moggeridge was keeping the scoreline respectable for Hamworthy as the tall keeper rebuffed a shot from Trialist B before Robinson headed a Wes Fogden cross against the bar.

Former Magpie Brin Doyle scuffed a 30-yard shot on the break before the half was ended amid ongoing treatment for Hammers midfielder Connor Ford, who went down in obvious pain with a leg injury and was stretchered off.

Dorchester switched all but goalkeeper Trialist A at half-time but still managed to hit the woodwork for a third time when Trialist C clattered the left upright after good work from Trialist E.

However, striker Trialist C atoned for his earlier miss by slotting home a clinical third after a slide-rule pass from Corby Moore.

And Dorchester grabbed a fourth on the night, and third from a corner, when Tom Bragg bundled home at the back post in the 74th minute.

Dorchester searched for a fifth in the closing stages but Trialist A, their goalkeeper, did not have a save to make throughout on a comfortable evening.

Magpies: Trialist A, Redknapp Jr (Malpas 46), Wright (Turner 46), Hutchinson (Bragg 46), Roberts (Trialist D 46), Fogden (Moore 46), Buse (Ngalo 46), Samadi (Trialist E 46), Trialist B (Toms 46), Robinson (Trialist C 46), Gwengwe (Trialist F).
