WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley admitted to being “really pleased” with his trialists at Hamworthy Recreation but kept his cards close to his chest regarding their futures.

The Terras’ boss watched on as a winger, Trialist A, and a striker, Trialist B who stands at well over two metres tall, were each given 45 minutes.

Trialist A hit the woodwork in the first half of the 4-0 victory and looked sharp on the right-hand side, particularly on the counter.

Trialist B was handed the second half to impress and had a header disallowed for offside before sweeping home Weymouth’s third goal.

Weymouth also gave minutes to a right-back, named on the teamsheet as Joe Howsey, and their former midfielder Andreas Robinson.

Molesley is understood to be in no major rush to sign either player.

Speaking to Echosport regarding the two unnamed trialists, Molesley shared his thoughts after running the rule over the duo.

He said: “Really pleased with both of them, without saying too much. You don’t really want to announce who you’re looking at.

“Both of them have got qualities which will add to the group, for sure.

“We’ve made some really good signings at the moment and the ones I’m seeing out there have got some character and quality to add.

“We’re certainly not going to be quantity, we’re going to be quality.

“It’s important that players have got a secondary position and that’s what we’ve looked at.

“We’ve thrown out two teams with not everyone in their primary position but we’re certainly looking to look ahead, build relationships and connections but also get the fitness as well.”

Weymouth, who have signed 14 players for next season, visit Sholing on Friday (7.45pm) for their second summer friendly.
