WEYMOUTH have narrowed down their search for a permanent training headquarters to “a couple of facilities”, according to manager Mark Molesley.

Weymouth will use Canford School as their base during the summer, dispensing with their previous arrangement at AFC Stoneham.

And Molesley expects “tweaks” to Weymouth’s training residence after the league season gets under way on Saturday, August 10.

He told Echosport: “Pre-season will be in one location and then, once the season starts and the nights draw in, we’ll probably change.

“We’ve got a couple of facilities lined up. As always, the first section of the season is pre-season and we’re fully organised and ready for that now.

“All our fixtures are done, our training base is done, so we’re ready to hit the ground running.

“Once we get into the season, there might be a few tweaks to it.”

It means Weymouth will use the same facilities in the summer as Bournemouth Under-21s used when Molesley combined his Cherries work with Weymouth duties during his first tenure.

Explaining why he chose Canford School for the summer, Molesley highlighted a range of benefits for the Terras.

“It’s a place that I know very well,” he said.

“It’s great to hook up with such a prestigious school, they’ve got great facilities and it’s the relationship down there from my time at Bournemouth.

“It’s really well located for our players and it gives us the best facilities for pre-season.

“We’re delighted to partner up with Canford and it gives us a great training base for the summer.”

Weymouth began pre-season testing and training yesterday ahead of their first friendly at Hamworthy Rec on Thursday, July 4 (7.45pm).
