WEYMOUTH have secured experienced defender Calvin Brooks for the 2024/25 Vanarama National League South season.

Brooks will stay at Weymouth for a 10th campaign in claret and blue, meaning he could reach the 350-game landmark next term.

The Weymouth vice-captain currently has 337 appearances, with 31 goals and 30 assists for the Terras.

Brooks made just 25 appearances last season before a serious knee injury put paid to any involvement for the remainder of the campaign.

He has undergone surgery after electing to continue playing and confirmed to Echosport last November that he would prefer to finish his career with Weymouth.

In a club statement, Weymouth said: “We are delighted to confirm the signature of Calvin Brooks to continue in claret and blue for the 24/25 season.

“A man who needs little introduction to the Terras’ faithful, Calvin has become a great part of the club and surrounding community. Originally made his debut back on 27th September 2014.

“Marking this upcoming season as his 10th for the club. Impressively, only eight players have featured in more campaigns at the club since World War Two.

“Calvin unfortunately missed a large part of the end of last season through injury and has since undergone surgery to aid his recovery. His return is anticipated closer than those may think.

“With 337 appearances currently under his belt, 31 goals and 30 assists, it gives a continuation of consistency to this ever-growing new-look Weymouth as we approach the new season.”

Brooks is the 10th Weymouth player to commit for the 2024/25 season, with Ezio Touray, Brandon Goodship, Jordon Thompson, Leo Hamblin, Charlie Rowan, Gerard Benfield, captain Tom Bearwish, Keelan O’Connell and Josh McQuoid all pledging allegiance to the Terras.
