SURCOUF Family Fun Day is back at Dorchester Rugby Club for the annual celebratory match for families and friends on Good Friday (2.30pm).

Always popular, the idea was the brainchild of club legend Lloyd Surcouf a number of years ago for everyone to come together and celebrate as the season draws to a close.

Surcouf’s purpose is to pull everyone together as one club and celebrate the success of the season.

With attractions for all the family to enjoy, from bouncy castles to a hog roast and bar, it is a chance for players, coaches, committee members, volunteers and their families all tirelessly working behind the scenes to be recognised and thanked for their efforts.

The match itself will be a Dorchester XV against a Surcouf XV no doubt led from the side, and likely kicked off by, Lloyd himself.

Always a game to put a smile on the face, players and former Dorchester heroes from the ages of 18 to nearly 80 get involved.

Surcouf, who played for Dorchester for many seasons, served on its committee for longer than many remember after his playing days, and now offers his vocal support to whichever of the club’s sides he watches.

His wife Sandie ably helping him in his rugby endeavours over the years also helped out with washing and running repairs on the first-team kit back prior to the club’s move to Coburg Road.

The clubhouse opens at 1pm with all welcome to enjoy what promises to be a fantastic day for all that attend.
