AN ENORMOUS opportunity to reach the Dorset Senior Cup final is not lost on Bridport boss Chris Herbst when his side hosts Hamworthy Rec tonight (7.45pm).
With a kind draw steering them clear of any side ranked at Step 4 or higher so far, the Bees are one victory away from booking a first final of the season.
However, they will have to beat a Rec side that has tasted only two defeats in 2023/24, both in cup competitions.
Speaking ahead of the rescheduled tie, Herbst said: “It’s massive, we wanted to have a good cup run and you don’t get this chance very often.

“Especially in the Senior Cup with the big sides in it. We’ve had a half-decent draw and we play Hamworthy who are flying at the moment.”
Due to poor weather, Rec last played two weeks ago and Bridport 10 days prior.
Asked if the gap in games could have an effect, Herbst added: “No, if it was another week I’d be a bit more concerned. We’re both in the same boat.
“If we could get to the final, it’s a free hit for us. We’re not expected to win but there’s a chance you could. The lads are buzzing for it.”
Sol Ayunga (ankle) and Tom Richardson (knee) remain out, while James Cox and Brayden Jones are unavailable.
