DORCHESTER Town have confirmed the departure of defender Jordi Foot to Wessex League Premier side Shaftesbury.

Foot was under contract at Dorchester, meaning negotiations took place to release him early.

The Rockies have come back in for a player who left the Dorset club to return to the Avenue Stadium in 2022.

However, this season Foot has missed a large chunk of match time for personal reasons.

Early in his absence, Echosport understands Shaftesbury tabled an offer for the former Dorchester Under-23s right-back, who can also play at centre-back.

And, after taking time away from the game, Foot has chosen to continue his career with a side currently playing two divisions beneath the Magpies.

Speaking to Dorchester’s media team, boss Tom Killick said: “Sorry to see Jordi go but he had been unavailable for selection for some time and made it clear he wanted to pursue his career elsewhere.

"In the circumstances, after positive discussions to come to a solution with Shaftesbury, we have agreed to release him from his contract and we wish him the best of luck going forward."

The Magpies added: “We thank Jordi for his efforts for the club over the past couple of years and wish him well for the future.”
