VETERANS’ Hub continue to be ‘best of the rest’ behind Belle Construction after a 54-35 win over New Body Fitness in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.
The match started with end-to-end play and some great interceptions from New Body WD Ellen Surtees but Vets’ C Emma Bright helped control the flow of play for an early 11-6 lead.
Each team fought hard in the second quarter, scoring 12 goals each, but New Body had a stronger third quarter closing the gap slightly thanks to GA Tia Chaloner’s accurate shooting.
Veterans remained strong and executed accurate play throughout the court with a formidable centre court to lead 35-28 going into the final quarter.

Changes for the Vets saw captain Caroline Goode step into centre, tracking play throughout the game and extending their lead convincingly.
Accurate shooting and fast passing into their shooting circle helped them score 19 goals, while a strong defence also ensured New Body were unable to convert their centres into goals as much to secure a late victory.

GUNGHO Marketing are still searching for their first win of the winter season after losing 41-15 to Warmer Home Improvements A.
Warmer’s exceptional GA Linzi Gardner was off with an injury on the first centre pass, but despite this they were able to take an early lead, while Gungho’s GK Laura Matthews made a fabulous interception helping convert a goal for Gungho.
Warmer had great centre court control and WA Sarah Garman fed some great balls into the circle helping Warmer achieve a 9-2 lead.
In the second quarter, Gungho’s WA Freya Joy used the edge of the circle to her advantage while GA Erin Purnell made some accurate long shots, but Warmer were able to extend their lead with strong communication and accurate fast paced passing.
Warmer really came into their own in the third quarter scoring multiple goals in a row with one great long shot from GA Ellen McDonald.
Gungho worked hard throughout the match but were unable to close the gap as Warmer finished strongly to win.
COASTAL CHEESE 38
McCARTHY STONE 40
IN THE highly anticipated Division One top-of-the-table interclub clash, McCarthy Stone beat Coastal Cheese 40-38.
Coastal secured the first goal but McCarthy came back with an early lead thanks to accurate shooting from GA Mandy Grafton.
Coastal pulled back with some accurate shooting from GS Lauren Oates and they continued to play strong with great interceptions from GD Gilly Woodsford, lessening McCarthy’s lead to 19-17 at half-time.
Third quarter started very back and forth with strong play from both teams and excellent shooting from Coastal’s duo helping them edge into the lead by two goals.
A really competitive final quarter saw both teams up their game. There was strong defence both ends but McCarthy’s experienced shooting partnership eventually proved decisive in a narrow success.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 31
WARMER Home Improvements B edged Dream Digital 31-29 to pick up their third win of the season in Division Two.
A brilliant game saw a closely contested match between the league friends.
Shooting was accurate from both ends with Dream’s GS Bekii Oliphant moving nicely around the circle and working well with partner Theresa Briers.
Both teams communicated well and picked spirits up throughout the game with cheeky shots entertaining the spectators, Warmer earning a 19-13 lead at half-time.
Dream’s midcourt seemed to show improved cohesion which resulted in their strongest quarter.
The final quarter saw a real fight and drive from both teams with Warmer’s GS Amy Hallet making some stunning long-distance shots alongside whippet Rubi Moss.
Some great interceptions and rebounds by Dream GK Katie Hankey saw Dream close the gap but it was not enough as Warmer held on to win an entertaining fixture.
