ARTIFEX Dragons recorded a 35-20 win over Gungho Marketing in their bottom-of-the-table meeting in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.
Dragons made a strong start in the first quarter and were able to take advantage of Gungho finding their feet by converting interceptions into goals.
Dragons took an eight-goal lead with accurate shooting and some great controlled play from WA Rhiannon Carter.
In the second quarter, Dragons continued to extend the advantage with some excellent feeds into the circle and strong defence.

Gungho fought back and play was much more balanced in this quarter with centre court from both teams proving strong and accurate as Dragons held a 17-9 lead.
Both sides seemed equally matched but pressure midcourt saw Gungho forced into a few errors. The final quarter saw Dragons extend their lead first with four successive goals.
A great interception from Gungho’s Erin Purnell allowed Gungho a turnover as they clawed back some much-needed goals and confidence, but it was Artifex who emerged triumphant.
WJNC WILDCATS 38
TEAM WAIKIKI 17
WJNC Wildcats claimed their sixth victory in Division One with a 38-17 win over Team Waikiki.
A closely-fought first quarter featured amazing defending from Wildcats’ WD Serenna Brodrick throughout the court and great on-point shooting from GA Francesca Eversden.
Wildcats finished the first quarter one goal up but extended their lead in the second quarter with noticeably strong defending from GK Kelly Browne which only allowed Waikiki to secure one goal this quarter.
Accurate shooting from GS Niamh Seeley saw Wildcats comfortable in the lead 15-5 at half-time.
The third quarter saw some incredible shooting from Waikiki’s GA Hayley Rooks, but great play from Wildcats’ WA Poppy Brodrick and C Nanay Garman helped control play and turnover balls.
Wildcats consistently extended their lead, despite a valiant effort from Waikiki’s WD Jayne Jones, as they booked the win.

JOE NEWTON ELECTRICAL 35
JOE Newton Electrical remain hot on Wildcats’ heels in fourth place after a 35-24 win over Artifex Krakens.
Krakens made a strong start to the game with accurate shooting from GS Millie Hyde at all areas of the D.
The opening quarter featured clever feeds into the circle and strong passing from both teams with Krakens managing some turnovers for an early lead.
Krakens’ C Freya Cartwright demonstrated controlled play and accurate passing which helped Krakens into a three-goal lead.
Joe Newton came back strong and kept possession, C Sophie Graves improving the flow of play and speed across the court, with WD Erin Murray intercepting and assisting goals to turn the score into a 17-12 lead.
Krakens tired slightly in the third quarter without any subs and a continued strong defence and accurate shooting from Joe Newton’s Caragh Watt saw them extend their lead.
Going into the final quarter, Krakens made every effort to fight back with a series of incredible interceptions from WD Kat King but her side was unable to gain the momentum needed as they fell to defeat.
FIRST FIT WINDOWS 14
COASTAL CHEESE 34
DIVISION One leaders Coastal Cheese inflicted a 34-14 defeat upon First Fit Windows.
Coastal were quick to score and shooting duo Lauren Oates and Olivia Yates worked well, taking the team to a 10-0 lead.
Despite pockets of strong play from First Fit, Coastal established a strong and consistent flow of play through the game and continued to extend their lead.
First Fit did get off the mark in the second quarter but Coastal’s pace and shooting helped them into a 21-3 lead.
First Fit applied pressure but without subs appeared to tire as the game continued.
Fresh legs for Coastal enabled them to continue a high-energy game with excellent midcourt flow and strong defending.
Brilliant interceptions from Gilly Woodsford allowed Coastal to convert further goals and despite a persistent effort from First Fit, they were not able to match the skill and energy from Coastal who secured a comfortable win.
