BRIDPORT’s return to action following three weeks of postponements was worth the wait as the defeated higher-league Sherborne 3-1 away from home in the Dorset Senior Cup quarter finals.
Kieran Daniels had struck for the Bees inside the opening minute, before Ollie Hebbard equalised for the hosts after quarter-of-an-hour.
Strikes either side of half-time from Luke King and Sol Ayunga booked the Bees’ spot in the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2019.
Due to flooding at Bridport’s St Mary’s Field home, the tie was reversed to Sherborne’s Raleigh Grove, kick-off pushed back by 24 hours.
Whilst the draw for the next stage of the competition has not been made as of writing, three teams have confirmed their places in the final four.
Hamworthy Recreation advanced courtesy of a bye in the quarter finals, whilst Shaftesbury performed an upset, defeating Dorchester of two leagues above 1-0.
Those three teams will be joined by one of Poole, Wimborne, or Weymouth, with the Terras’ first round tie with the Magpies yet to be staged.
The winners will face Poole in the quarter finals.
Bees: Scadding, Brook, Childs, King, Gall, Daniels, Parsons, Weedon, Ayunga, Cox, Calverley.
Subs: Baggs, Diaz, Owen, Partridge, Jones.
