NEW BODY FITNESS 56

NEW Body Fitness claimed a resounding 56-16 win over clubmates Gungho Marketing in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.

New Body started strong with some fantastic interceptions and flow down the court, securing 12 consecutive goals in the first quarter with some skilled shooting from New Body’s GS Jess Brodrick.

Dominant New Body opened a 16-2 lead while their defensive play was strong and regularly interrupted Gungho’s efforts.

GK Jen Lewis was a noticeable force supporting the team to a 29-4 lead at half-time.

Gungho returned in the third quarter with determination and effort and managed notch eight more goals.

New Body however, continued to dominate and make every effort to force Gungho into errors.

The final quarter saw some great shots from Gungho’s GA Arianwen Purnell and they did not give up until the final whistle, however, Brodrick was noted as the dominant player as New Body stormed to victory.

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 38

ARTIFEX KRAKENS 34

DIVISION One’s bottom-of-the-table clash saw First Fit Windows edge Artifex Krakens 38-34.

First Fit started strong on the attack with WA Sandra Firth working well around the D.

Krakens demonstrated strong passes in the centre third with some efficient moves and accurate shooting from GS Millie Hyde and GA Sam Shrewbridge.

This was a closely contested quarter with one goal between the teams at the end of the first quarter.

Krakens’ WA Gracie Richie was strong in the second quarter and assisted the ball getting into the goal third.

Clean and direct passes from First Fit helped to set the pace of the game and both teams communicated to each other well with one goal the difference at half-time.

The third quarter proved to be a tough one with strong defensive pressure from Krakens’ defensive duo Lucy Astrid & Chloe Calton, with Astrid reading the game and making a number of interceptions.

However, First Fit crept ahead going into the final quarter and extended their lead to win by four goals.

ZEST 35

WJNC WAVES 13

ZEST remain top of Division Two after a healthy 35-13 win over WJNC Waves.

Zest started strongly, scoring within the first minute of the game despite excellent defensive pressure from Waves’ GD Matilda Burdette.

Zest worked well together and dominated the play with WA Lauren Kenney and C Meegan Ling directing the flow and accurately reaching the shooting circle helping Zest achieve a 12-2 lead.

Tactical changes from both teams in the second quarter saw a new energy on court.

Waves’ Leilani Pitman shot some amazing goals from the edge of the circle with WA Ruby Watters providing good circle support.

However, Zest’s GS Emma Mills and GA Annabel Bartlett made clean shots and extended their lead.

In the third quarter, Waves’ Halle Swyre made some good interceptions and despite a near miss from the football game nearby, Zest continued to dominate.

Zest’s shooting partnership eventually proved the difference as they earned a sixth straight win.

DREAM DIGITAL 23

EVOLVED TUNING 19

DREAM Digital snuck their way to a tighter 23-19 win over Evolved Tuning in Division Two.

Dream scored in the first minute of the game, while Evolved’s C Zoe Lindsay recovered well from an elegant fall, and assisted some clean passes resulting in accurate shooting from GS Summer Donoghue.

Equally exceptional shooting from Dream’s GA Theresa Briers kept the score to 5-5.

Pauline Nash came on as Dream’s WD and made some fantastic interceptions.

Dream’s Lou Thompson moved to GS to get some height in the D, but Evolved’s GK Charlotte Pantry and their midcourt players helped them to half-time with a two-goal lead.

Dream fought hard in the third quarter with Danielle Lyons reading the game well and helping to turnover play.

Evolved’s defence continued to interrupt play, but Dream were able to extend by a goal their lead.

The final quarter saw both teams tire slightly. Mid court interceptions from Dream’s C Molly Horton and WD Holly Gwythers meant a low scoring quarter for both teams, but Dream held out to triumph.
