AN EAST Dorset charity has received it largest-ever donation thanks to a golf club’s charity day.
Poole & District Parkinson’s Group received a cheque for £6,810.33 plus another £100 in cash following the event at Sturminster Marshall Golf Club.
The amount raised is also a record for the golf club’s annual charity day.
Sturminster Marshall’s charity day involved a nine-hole golf competition and a grand auction.

As part of the golf competition there was a chance to win a car in a hole-in-one challenge.
The car was generously provided by Paul Hendy and the Hendy Car Group.
With no hole-in-one being achieved, the car was not won but Hendy has very kindly agreed to provide a car for next year’s event.
The auction raised almost half of the total sum thanks to the fantastic donations from many local golf clubs and businesses.
Sturminster Marshall would like to thank those who donated items for their kind support.
This weekend also played host to the club's New Captains' Drive-In when members are introduced to the new junior, ladies, men's and seniors' captains.
All members were invited to participate in a nine-hole Texas Scramble, pitching themselves against the new captains team.
