DORCHESTER Sports claimed a hat-trick of victories courtesy of a 5-2 win at old adversaries Westland Sports in the Dorset Premier League.

Ashley James’ side added the win at Alvington to successes over rivals Balti Sports in the league and Tisbury United in the Senior Trophy.

The county town team were 3-1 up at half-time after making a fast start against a Westland side missing seven first-team players with injury.

James’ men signalled their intentions in the very first minute when Alex Godfrey nearly converted Dan Sheehy’s cross, only to elevate his shot over the bar.

Owen Peart had a shot tipped over on five minutes and Dylan Ellis fired wide from a Darren Watts cross as chances came and went.

However, Ellis made amends on 12 minutes when he converted Sheehy’s delivery for 1-0.

Matt Groves saw a deflected effort zip over the bar but Ellis soon made it 2-0 after good combination play from Groves and Godfrey.

It was all one-way traffic as Peart then curled home a trademark free-kick in the 20th minute.

Westland dug in and to their credit got one back as Ollie Crisp got the final touch from a goalmouth scramble.

The match then took a sour turn when Peart went off injured following an off-the-ball incident with Malik Kamal, who saw red.

With Westland reduced to ten men, the visitors looked to put the game to bed in the second half and notched a fourth courtesy of Sheehy’s solid strike from 20 yards.

Niall Woollard got Westland back to 4-2 with a penalty but the away team made sure of the victory late on, adding a fifth as Joel Hewitt assisted Godfrey.

Speaking to Echosport, James said: “I just think the way we played in the first 35 minutes, up until their goal, will give us massive belief going forward.

“We could’ve been four or five-nil up. If we start games like that it’s a really good sign.

“Then it was a professional second half to get the job done.”

Dorch Sports tomorrow tackle Merley at home (7.45pm), with James wary of the visitors following their 7-3 thumping of Balti.

He said: “It’s probably not a great time to play them after they beat Balti by that many, but the lads have been looking forward to this one since the cup game.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been involved in a game that was so cruel, to have all those chances and then lose in the 91st minute to get knocked out was pretty horrible.”

Peart is a doubt and Ellis misses out for five weeks with unavailability. Greg Taylor will deputise for Nick Hutchings in goal.

Ash Smith, Josh Leake and Toby Read come back into contention.
