PORTLAND United have secured the services of highly-rated attacker Joe Wickham from Shaftesbury.

Wickham has flown up the ranks after banging the goals in at Dorset Premier League side Merley.

He spent time at Poole Town under Tom Killick and has most recently been on the books at Shaftesbury.

Wickham netted 13 times in 18 appearances for Merley in the 2020/21 season before sealing a move to Shaftesbury in the Wessex League the following term.

He scored five times in 19 appearances for the Rockies and also played 11 times for Poole, without scoring.

Wickham backed that up with four goals in 30 appearances last season and has added two goals this season in ten appearances.

However, his game time has largely come from the bench at Cockrams and Portland have now swooped to sign the forward.

Wickham could make his debut against Bournemouth Poppies tomorrow (3pm).
