DORCHESTER Town will have no match this weekend despite efforts to plug the gap, club sources have confirmed.

Due to the Magpies’ early exit in the FA Cup, Dorchester had explored various avenues to bring forward a league fixture to this vacant Saturday.

However, the Magpies have been unsuccessful in their attempts, meaning they will have another ten-day break between games.

More contact time in an identical break worked in Dorchester’s favour last week, the Magpies winning 3-1 against Didcot.

Speaking to Echosport, manager Glenn Howes said: “We’ve tried, Scott (Symes, chairman) have been very proactive but we keep going down dead ends.

“We had a huge amount of contact time to prepare for the Didcot game and that will clearly be the case for the Merthyr game.

“That’s our primary focus now. The most important thing is getting back on a run and we want to make up for our early exit in the FA Cup by having an FA Trophy run.”

Dorchester’s next game comes at Merthyr Town in the FA Trophy final qualifying round on Saturday, October 7 (3pm).

Jake Graziano and Olaf Koszela are both set to be available following concussion protocols.

Howes added: “Jake’s come along nicely so he’ll be available, exactly the same as Olaf.”
