BALTI SPORTS 1
STURMINSTER NEWTON 5
BALTI Sports’ troubles in cup competitions continued with a 5-1 reverse at home to reigning Dorset Premier League Cup champions Sturminster Newton United.
Balti were level at 1-1 after a Derek Wall penalty, won and taken by the striker himself, but the Cherries soon displayed their class.
Goals either side of half-time, added to two clinical strikes when cutting in off the wings, saw United to a comfortable win as Jamie Danoris bagged a brace alongside Buddy O’Shea, Elliott Bevis and Neil Sweatman goals.
Balti boss Marco Nott told Echosport: “It was a tough draw and we’re notoriously awful in cups anyway.

“We actually went tote-to-toe with them in them in the first half, they just scored at crucial times.
“They got ahead before half-time and got a third just after half-time. That third goal was a bit of a killer blow.
“Some of the goals we conceded were from mistakes of our own. You look back to last year and we lost eight to them, we didn’t even compete, it was embarrassing.
“We were excellent first half, just dropped away second half.”
The result came after a Phil Anderson goal gave Balti a 1-0 win over Hamworthy in the league last week. Nott’s men next visit rivals Dorchester Sports on Saturday (3pm).
Balti: Willis (Rupp 80), Allison (Devaney 60), Anderson, Hansford, Gear, James, Biles, Nichols, Chambers (Batchelor 55), Stavrianos (Summers 65), Wall (Preece 60).
