DORCHESTER Town loanee Ollie Haste has been a “big miss” for the Magpies with a hamstring strain, boss Glenn Howes confessed.

Haste was brought in by the Avenue Stadium club after impressing while playing against Dorchester for parent club Yeovil back in July.

He subsequently earned a loan move, along with Yeovil striker Benjani Jr, to the Magpies.

However, after starting in Dorchester’s curtain-raiser at Merthyr, Haste picked up a hamstring niggle and has since been under the care of Yeovil.

Haste enjoyed a successful spell at Truro City last season, playing his part in the White Tigers reaching the Southern League play-offs.

And Howes feels the 19-year-old’s influence has been lacking.

He told Echosport: “He’s been a big miss. He figured very prominently in our pre-season game when he played for Yeovil and then again for us against Eastleigh.

“He was hugely influential in our game against Merthyr. It would be great to welcome Ollie back whether it be this weekend or next.

“I don’t think hamstrings can be rushed.”
