WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson believes the Terras are a more resilient side since last season’s miraculous escape from relegation.
Wilikinson leads the Terras at Hemel Hempstead Town tomorrow (3pm) targeting a fifth win in seven games, bridging between 2022/23 and 2023/24.
The Terras are joint-11th going into the game, and have suffered just one loss in six league matches.
Asked if Weymouth had turned a corner in terms of their fortitude, Wilkinson told Echosport: “I’m hoping so, it showed on Tuesday.

“I think we would’ve lost last year when we went 1-1 in the 65th minute and they’re going long balls, direct, trying to bully us.
“We stayed ruthless as a group and swung momentum back to us, then we should’ve won it.
“A lot of positives to take. Only one defeat in six says it all itself. Very proud of keeping the momentum going, especially with a new team.
“We’re going to Hemel with an opportunity to go even higher in the league. We’ve still got a long way to go but I’ll take that right now.”
Last season, Weymouth were 1-0 up at Hemel with 81 minutes played before George Williams’ late brace stunned the Terras.
However, Wilkinson is not seeking revenge for that result and is typically treating Hemel as any other fixture.
He said: “I’ll be honest, I don’t really look at it like that. I just look at it like it’s Hemel in front of us.
“They’ve started very well, are a very good side and we’ve done a lot of work on them. It’s going to be really challenging on the day.
“I can’t look at last year because we’re a totally different team now.”
Midfielder Max Hemmings (knee) is still out, with Weymouth expecting to be without the ex-Galway man for a long-term period pending further assessment.
