STRIKER Dan Roberts welcomes the extra competition for places at Weymouth this season.
Roberts is one of five strikers currently at the Terras, alongside Brandon Goodship, Norman Wabo, Nahum Melvin-Lambert and Tommy Stagg.
Josh McQuoid and skipper Tom Bearwish can also play up front but have been deployed in central midfield by boss Bobby Wilkinson.
Former Slough and Dartford forward Roberts told Echosport: “Competition for places is important.
“It keeps you on your toes, keeps you working hard and wanting to be better every single week.

“Bobby has instilled that mentality anyway. It’s a case of getting the best out of yourself and it helps get the best out of the people around you.
“Having three or four forwards will be good, as well of the rest of the squad. There’s two players in each position, so no-one will ever get comfortable.
“I’ve always believed in having a settled 11 that can form a bond and connection, but having players behind you will always help to improve.”
