WEYMOUTH have added defender David Sesay and striker Nahum Melvin-Lambert to their ranks for the 2023/24 season.

Sesay, 24, scored twice in 24 appearances for Weymouth last season while on loan from National League side Wealdstone.

Following his exit from the Stones this summer, he went on trial in Ireland only to return unsuccessful after turning down a deal.

Sesay was seen training with Weymouth in their warm-up before the 2-1 loss to St Albans on Saturday.

Weymouth had agreed the deal earlier this week but a hold-up in paperwork prevented Sesay's announcement until the eve of the Dartford game.

Speaking to Echosport after securing Sesay's signature, boss Bobby Wilkinson said: "I'm very pleased, it's great to have him on board.

"It's absolutely fantastic news for us. He wanted to come and play for Weymouth, he loves it here and loves the fans.

"He's been playing games in Ireland and got offered a good deal but he wanted to stay at home. I jumped on it straight away.

"He makes us stronger, so it's another brilliant signing."

Sesay provides competition at left-back for Leo Hamblin, who has made an impressive start to life at Weymouth.

Meanwhile, Melvin-Lambert was a free agent after leaving Sky Bet League One side Reading earlier this summer.

The St Lucia international was with the Royals for three seasons, signing a professional contract.

While with the Berkshire club, he was twice sent out on loan to Irish side St Patrick's Athletic and also spent time at Hemel Hempstead before joining Weymouth in 2023.

Melvin-Lambert went on to play six times for the Terras while on loan, failing to score or assist.

Following his Reading release, Weymouth manager Bobby Wilkinson swooped for the forward, who played and scored against his former employers in the 2-1 pre-season friendly loss in July.

Melvin-Lambert comes in after fellow striker Marvin Brooks opted not to join the Terras due to work commitments and a knee injury, although he may be available next month if desired.

The duo could make their second debuts for Weymouth in today's league clash with Dartford (3pm).
