WEYMOUTH have loaned midfielder Harvey Slade to Bashley in a one-month deal.

Slade was initially signed from Bash by Terras’ boss Bobby Wilkinson back in January.

However, after making 14 appearances and scoring once, Slade suffered a groin injury during pre-season.

In a bid to help him regain fitness, Slade will now feature for the Southern League Division One South club and return to the Terras next month.

The move is part of a strategy to keep Weymouth’s squad fit, with the Terras expected to lose Josh McQuoid in September when he undergoes an operation on his leg.

Speaking to Echosport, Wilkinson said: “We’ve only got Josh for about another five weeks.

“What I wanted to do is, while we’ve got Josh in the building, get Harvey out to get four games for Bashley so when Josh goes he comes back in.

“Because we’ve got Josh, who’s a first-class player, I can’t have them all there.”

Elsewhere, Wilkinson has confirmed the departure of Marvin Brooks due to a knee injury, although the former Poole and Salisbury striker could return later this season if required.

Wilkinson added: “Marvin isn’t with us now. He’s decided not to play because of his injury, he’s moved on.

“It’s because of his knee. He might still come back in a month’s time but he’s got lots of work commitments so we’ve just kept it all on hold.

“He’s a great player but he phoned me up and said he’s struggling with his knee. I’ve absolutely loved working with him.

“He’s a good lad and will always be welcome back if he decides to. He might decide to go somewhere else, I don’t know.”
