ANDERS Rowe’s Poole Pirates left it too late to pick up a win in their meeting away at Glasgow Tigers, losing 46-44 in the final heat.
Pirates had trailed by as many as 10 points during the meeting, but rallied to cut the gap down to two heading into the final race.
However, it was not to be, Glasgow inflicting small revenge after Pirates had beaten them in the final of the BSN series at the start of July.
Weymouth-born Rowe hauled home eight points for Pirates, picking up one race win in heat 11.
Rowe returned points from all four of his rides, including two second-placed finishes.
Pirates and Rowe return to action this Wednesday, when they face further Scottish opposition in the form of Edinburgh Monarchs at Wimborne Road.
They travel back to Scotland for the return fixture on Friday.
