WEYMOUTH Under-23s manager Craig Adams believes his Dorchester counterparts have “set the marker” by winning the treble last season.

Adams, formerly on the managerial books at Wellingborough, Rugby, Bedford and St Ives, has succeeded Paul Tapper as the Terras’ under-23s boss this summer.

He is tasked with pitting his wits against Dorchester next season and is full of admiration for Brian Churchill’s Magpies.

He told Echosport: “They’re leading the way, they’ve been run really well.

“Fair play to Dorchester, they’ve set the marker for me and my group, we’ve got to aspire to follow in their footsteps.

“I’ve watched Dorchester play several times and they’re very well organised and managed and professional.

“I’ve definitely learned a thing or two looking at them.”

He added: “You have to put your own stamp on things and I do want us to get somewhere near them.

“Obviously we want to win every game we go into but it’s more that the gaffer (Bobby Wilkinson) wants me to try and develop players that he can trust.”
