TENNIS season is in full swing and one Weymouth club is opening its doors to the public as part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s Big Weekend next month.
Weymouth Lawn Tennis Club, based on Radipole Park Drive, is hosting an open day on Saturday, July 8 from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
The event is staged in the middle of Wimbledon fortnight and is a great opportunity for individuals or families to try tennis for the first time or dust off that old racket and get back into the sport.
There will be free coaching for adults and juniors with Weymouth’s LTA-registered coaches Matt Eaton, Ryan Bissett and Clive Stow.

There will also be some fun activities for all, based around a tennis theme, and participants will be able to test their skill against the ball machine to see how many they can return.
Those interested can pre-register and reserve a space or just turn up and mix in.
Weymouth will provide rackets for those without and the club requires that all players wear trainers with good grip and loose or sports clothing to participate.
There will be cakes, hot drinks and refreshments throughout the day and members will be on hand to tell players more about the club.
Weymouth are also holding a free raffle and special membership offers are available.
