NEW BODY FITNESS 28

ARTIFEX DRAGONS 40

DRAGONS made it a double win with a 40-28 success over New Body.

After a fast, end-to-end start it was 8-8 before the second quarter, but fantastic marking from Dragons’ defenders, especially GK Laura Pearson, forced New Body into making mistakes and Dragons led at half-time.

Dragons extended the advantage but the game then became scrappy at both ends as the teams tired.

Dragons’ GS Laura Gardner, however, kept her consistency under the post and they went into the final quarter with a nine-goal lead.

Dragons brought Madison Carter on at GS and she scored some great goals, allowing Artifex to push on and win.

ARTIFEX GRIFFINS 53

WJNC WILDCATS 32

ARTIFEX Griffins remain unbeaten after a 53-32 victory over WJNC Wildcats in Division One.

Despite initially falling behind on the scoreboard, Griffins staged a great comeback to close the gap and quickly levelled in the second quarter.

From there, they became more confident and led by pulling off some risky long shots.

Wildcats continued to use good communication across court to stay in the game in the second half, but Griffins’ strong, powerful passes and positive energy meant they kept their lead.

In the final quarter, Griffins had found their flow as their transition down court looked smooth and they pushed on for a convincing victory.

TEAM WAIKIKI 31

ARTIFEX GRIFFINS 42

GRIFFINS doubled up with a 42-31 success over Team Waikiki.

After a fiery start, Griffins’ defence proved too tough for Waikiki to work through.

Waikiki were then the better team in the second quarter, as the momentum of the game swung in their favour, as Griffins made some unforced errors, reducing to two goals the gap at half-time.

The third quarter remained close, with both defensive ends piling on the pressure.

Griffins then upped their game for the final quarter, kept their composure and won by 11 goals.

GUNGHO MARKETING 54

ARTIFEX KRAKENS 32

Krakens started strongly with clear, decisive passes into the shooting circle but Gungho soon found their confidence and led 12-9 at quarter time.

Gungho took the momentum into the second quarter, although Krakens managed to stay in touch thanks to accurate shooting from GS Sam Shewbridge.

However, Gungho interceptions proved crucial as they pulled away again.

Gungho brought fresh legs on and Krakens moved Molly Shewbridge into GA but these changes paid off for Gungho as they maintained a fast speed that Krakens were unable to keep up with.

JOE NEWTON ELECTRICAL 28

WJNC WAVES 22

JOE Newton Electrical are now second in Division Two following a 28-22 win over WJNC Waves.

After a defensive start Joe Newton’s attack were the first to mount attacking pressure and led 11-8 at quarter time.

In the second quarter, Waves had much better flow through court, and they managed to pull the scoreline back to just two goals.

There were lots of interceptions again from both teams in the second half but Joe Newton were more accurate and made it too difficult for Waves to close the gap.
