AHKEEM Rose has announced his departure from Weymouth after two seasons with the Terras.

The Jamaican forward, who previously enjoyed spells with Grimsby Town and Dover Athletic, leaves having played 63 games for Weymouth.

Some 44 of those came last season as the Terras finally put an end to troublesome hamstring injuries.

He returned their hard work with 20 goals and six assists, ending his stay with 21 strikes in total.

His goals proved priceless as he played a major role in helping Weymouth avoid the Vanarama National League South drop last season.

Announcing his exit on social media, Rose said: "The time has come to say my goodbyes to the Terras fans.

"Over the past two years I have learnt a lot on and off the pitch, met some great people and also some friends for life.

“I wanna thank all three managers that I played for and their backroom staff. This season was tough but it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish and we managed to get over the line in the end.

“Massive thank you to the (supporters), you guys made we feel welcome from the moment I got here and I hope next season brings you more smiles and happiness.

“All the best and I will be watching from a distance. Akz.”

Weymouth could not afford to keep the highly-rated striker at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Manager Bobby Wilkinson told Echosport: "Everyone keeps talking about Ahkeem.

"If you want him, you better go and find his money because I haven't got it!"

Rose joins Dan Matsuzaka, ex-skipper Xander McBurnie, Zaki Oualah, Luke Nippard, Brad Ash, Tom Blair, Cam Murray, Harrison Bruton and Nathan Carlyle in leaving Weymouth this summer.
