WEYMOUTH have announced the signing of midfielder Max Hemmings on a permanent deal for the 2023/24 Vanarama National League South season, subject to FA approval.

Hemmings, 26, played seven times for the Terras in a vital run-in that yielded four wins and two draws as Weymouth miraculously stayed up on the final day.

The former Galway star has now committed to a full campaign with Weymouth and becomes their second signing after skipper and fellow central midfielder Tom Bearwish.

Commenting on his first deal since the 2022/23 season ended, boss Bobby Wilkinson said the agreement showed a statement of intent.

He told Echosport: “He came in to help me out, as everyone knows, with five weeks to go.

“I’ve persuaded him to stay for another season, so that’s credit to him and everyone else at the club to get such a good player in.

“It just shows that we’re trying to do the right things, bring good players into the club. 

“It’s brilliant, him and Tom Bearwish have both signed already.”

Hemmings told uptheterras.co.uk: “I’m delighted to sign for Weymouth next season.
