DORSET will next month be represented at the English Schools Individual table tennis finals by Daniel Scotchmer.
Scotchmer, 15, plays weekly for the Thomas Hardye School in the Weymouth & District Table Tennis League and also practises at the Dorset Table Tennis Academy in Christchurch.
His successful breakthrough year culminates with an appearance at the finals in Wolverhampton in April.
Scotchmer recently won a very competitive Dorset Schools boys under-16 individual competition in Christchurch to qualify for Wolverhampton.

In a busy month, Scotchmer was also fourth in the South West Regional competition for under-15s in Plymouth, playing against the best players across Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
Scotchmer started practicing in the Weymouth league whilst still at Damers School and immediately showed encouraging early signs of potential, which continued at weekly Dorchester Middle School practice sessions.
He is reaping the rewards for his continued hard work and regular practice.
Scotchmer has won 26 of his 28 league matches and reached the semi-finals of the WDTTL Cup.
The teenage hotshot represents Weymouth in Table Tennis England competitions, in the National Cadet League at under-15 level in Southampton and at under-19 standard in the National Junior League in Bristol.
Healso plays in other Table Tennis England events across the south.
Scotchmer was also runner-up in the under-15 and under-19 consolation finals during a two-star event in Horsham, Sussex, capping off a successful day’s play.
