WEYMOUTH & Portland’s second XV finally played their first home game of the season, and were well beaten 45-12 by Bournemouth fourths.

The fact it was only Weymouth’s second match of the campaign was evident, especially in the first half, as the team struggled to settle into a cohesive unit.

Bournemouth led 12-0 by half-time, a score which quickly excelled to 38-0 with the visitors running in four more unanswered tries.

But the hosts dug in, their efforts rewarded with two tries late in the day.

First to cross for Weymouth was Khylo Farley, who went in under the posts.

That gave Ryan Keeble Kinsella and easy conversion.

The last score of the game came when Tim Comben, regrettably playing without twin brother Simon, finished off a great surge by the forwards.

Weymouth were left pleased come full-time, despite the result, with the performance of the side, particularly returnees Matt Rees, Joe Taylor and Ade Walker.

Coach Rob Smith is now preparing his charges for a home fixture on Friday evening against Swanage & Wareham thirds.

Weymouth & Portland: Abel, Allan, Anthony, Brindley, Brown, Comben, Driver, Farley, Forrest, Howard, Jeffcott, Keeble Kinsella, Lloyd Edwards, Purseglove, Rees, Taylor, Sankey, Sherry, Walker, Whiting.
