WEYMOUTH boss Bobby Wilkinson sympathised with midfielder Luke Nippard after his hamstring injury, believing his setback to be more “bad luck” for the club.

Nippard, stretchered off in Tuesday’s 3-1 loss at Farnborough, is expected to be out for at least six weeks – putting him in danger of missing the remainder of the season.

Wilkinson has had to contend with a number of high-profile injuries during his five months at the club and he rued his latest misfortune with Nippard.

“Every time I’ve called on him, he’s done really well,” Wilkinson told Echosport.

“I’m disappointed for him because he took his chance to get back into the team.

“We had a little chat, me and him, and we just looked at each other. That’s been our luck with injuries.

“It’s not a week or two weeks, it’s six to eight. We’ve dealt with that for all the months I’ve been here. It’s bad luck after bad luck.”

Asked if he would now recall midfielder Cam Murray from his loan at Poole, Wilkinson replied: “No, we’ve got cover and I’m really happy at the moment.

“If we picked up another injury in central midfield then we would be calling Cam back, yes.”
