DORCHESTER Sports are hoping a week off has replenished their energy levels going into a clash with bottom side Shaftesbury Town Reserves tomorrow (2pm).

Sports are winless in six Jewson Dorset Premier League matches since a 5-1 thrashing of Bridport Reserves on New Year’s Eve.

Despite Shaftesbury winning just four times in 23 league matches this season, Sports’ boss Ashley James is taking nothing for granted when the Rockies visit the Avenue Stadium.

He told Echosport: “It’s just like any normal game. We want to go and win it.

“Unfortunately, the last six games we haven’t been good enough to do that.

“We have to regroup and take the positives out of the (last) few games, cut out silly mistakes and finish better when we get the chances.

“I’m sure the wins will come. We’ve got a good squad of players but it’s just about putting in that all-round performance to get the three points.

“It won’t be easy with them bottom. They won’t want to lose and their first team hasn’t got a game, so I’d imagine they’ll be slightly stronger.

“It’s going to be a tough game again. We’re not in very good form, we’ve got to match them.”

James added: “We’ve had a hard January, so the rest probably came at the right time to get some momentum and get some confidence.

“At the moment, if we make one mistake the confidence saps straight out of the team and it’s not nice to see. That’s what football does to you.

“Hopefully we can get some confidence back and get a good result.”

New signing Joel Hewitt could make his second debut, but Darren Watts (unavailable) misses out.

Jamie West and Liam O’Shaughnessy return from injury and suspension respectively, with Kriss Radivojsa also in contention.
