WHEN a football score becomes a cricket score, you can file the result under the ‘bad day at the office’ cliché for the losing team.
That was the case for Poole Borough Reserves after their 23-0 pounding by Maiden Newton & Cattistock in Dorset League Division Two.
To the Hornets' credit, they played with 11 men after late withdrawals left them with a skeleton squad.
Few could have predicted the onslaught to come as Reece Haim bagged a double hat-trick, Steve Churchill grabbed a quadruple, Daryl Bagwell, Finn Cooper and Archie Mullins all netted hat-tricks.
Tom Foulsham, Adam Wash, Will Clarke and Richard Beasley completed the scoring for the Stags on a remarkable day at Kennel Lane.

Elsewhere, Canford and Bisterne Reserves drew 2-2, while Handley Sports hosted Piddlehinton and won 2-0 with goals from Simon Edwards and Jamie Edwards. Portesham earned their first win of the season with a 3-0 success against Ridgeway, Cameron Paul hitting two goals and Craig Mewton one.
Josh Thayne and Dan Hancock were both on target for Mudeford as they won 2-1 away at Shillingstone in Division Three.
Owen Brown scored a hat-trick for Porton Sports in their 6-0 home win against Crossways, Ben Bailey, Sean Lawlor and Lewis Dyer also on target.
Parton beat Witchampton 5-1 away, Harry Smith with the Witches’ consolation.
Corfe Mullen and Wyke Regis drew 2-2 with Dave Johnston and Shanil Karunananda scoring for Corfe Mullen. Harry Mynes and Sam Course netted for Wyke.
