DORCHESTER Town first-team coach Brian Churchill felt the Magpies were unlucky not to take a point after losing 2-1 at home to Bracknell Town, adding: “We more than matched them”.
Beginning the day as a clash between the Pitching In Southern League Premier South’s eighth and fourth-placed sides, the match proved why both teams are cemented in the play-off battle.
Bracknell shaded the first half after sandwiching Shaq Gwengwe’s equaliser for Dorchester with Mickel Platt’s opener and a solo effort from Ben Harris.
Dorchester and Bracknell hit the woodwork in the second half and the Robins withstood heavy late pressure from the Magpies to edge their hosts out in an entertaining contest.

Speaking to Dorchester’s media team post-match, Churchill said: “I don’t think there was a lot in it, if I’m honest.
“It was a strong Bracknell side that are aiming for minimum play-offs this season. Fair play to them, they are a decent team.
“We don’t face that sort of opposition every week but I thought we more than matched them at home and minimum we should’ve come out with a draw from that game.”
On Dorchester’s sustained pressure late on, Churchill added: “Before that I think Shaq had a really tight offside where he’s gone through and scored, then the flag goes up.
“We’ve pushed at the end for that equaliser and been unlucky. Jordi (Foot) said he didn’t know how that bloke got a block in for his shot.
“Fair play to them, they’ve got a habit of winning and you can see that throughout the team. They’re strong and never know when they’re beaten.”
Highlighting the ten-minute period in which all three goals were scored, Churchill said: “It was a great response, the goal was on the counter attack.
“Bradders (Harvey Bradbury) on the halfway line did really well to hold it up and then had his head up enough to see Shaq making that run, slipped him through and Shaq finished well.”
Dorchester next face league leaders Weston-super-Mare on Saturday (3pm).
