WILL Dawes’ loan spell from Yeovil Town will not be extended, Weymouth boss Bobby Wilkinson has revealed.

Dawes, 22, has played just 73 minutes for the Terras in three appearances across his one-month deal and was often omitted from the squad due to the five loanees rule.

The former Stratford Town winger scored for the Glovers in midweek during the 2-1 Somerset County Cup loss to Paulton Rovers.

Speaking to Echosport, Wilkinson said: “We’re not going to be continuing and I make it clear – Will’s done nothing wrong.

“He’s been a pleasure to work with. When Brendan Willson got offered to come in and Jamie (Egan), I had to take the defenders.

“We took them up at the time but I have to say Will’s been a credit, he’s got a bright future.

“It’s just bad luck with the way these defenders became available and we’ve got a good forward line.

“Because I can only have five loanees (in a squad), I went with certain people.

“I wish him all the best and hopefully I can work with him again when we’re in a different situation.”

Dawes’ exit leaves Weymouth light in wide areas for this weekend’s home clash against St Albans City, with Tom Blair (suspension) and Keelan O’Connell (groin) out.
