DORCHESTER Town boss Glenn Howes expects a formidable challenge from Bracknell Town, adding: “I haven’t heard a bad word said about them”.

Howes’ men tackle the Robins, who began the season with current Weymouth manager Bobby Wilkinson at the helm, at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Dorchester suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat by Plymouth Parkway on Tuesday and the Magpies are looking to rekindle their form, having slipped to eighth in midweek.

Home comforts have largely spelled victories for Dorchester this season, with ten league wins in front of the Avenue faithful already.

Howes told Echosport: “If you speak to any manager in this league, coach and players that have played against Bracknell, I haven’t heard a bad word said about them.

“You know fundamentally they can do a bit of everything. There’s no way they’ve gone under the radar, they were expected to be there.

“Their players and management team are delivering.”

On the home form, Howes said: “One thing we set out this year is to give our supporters something to be proud of.

“There’s been a big cloud over the club in the last six or seven years.

“They can quite happily come along to the Avenue knowing that it doesn’t matter who we play against, they’re going to be in for a game.

“Even the bigger sides, Weston-super-Mare, Truro, Chesham have all been given a tough task.

“That will be the case on Saturday, for sure. The players are willing and we can’t wait to put it right. We’ll be well-prepared.

“We’re thoroughly looking forward to playing against a side who are having a fantastic season with their FA Cup run, their FA Trophy run. It’s going to be a great challenge.”

Dorchester have also decided against an appeal over Matty Neale’s red card late in the 3-0 win over Hanwell.

Howes explained: “We had an official look at it and it was a little inconclusive in terms of the view on the camera.

“It was a heavy collision, so unfortunately we’ve decided against appealing it so Matty is going to receive a three-game ban.”

However, Harvey Bradbury returns from a four-game suspension.

“He’s taken a while to get up to speed, by his own admission,” Howes said.

“Once we got him through that first two or three games he’s scored three in three.

“He gives us an awful lot more than goals in terms of his hold-up and link-up play. He’s a fantastic character to have in and around the club.

“He’s been sorely missed. I think he understands the repercussions of his actions and he’s hungry to make up for that. We’re going to give him the opportunity to put that right.”

Howes has meanwhile accepted a £150 fine for his red card at Hartley Wintney, while assistant James Wood is yet to discover any potential punishment for his dismissal against Weymouth.

Charlie Gunson (hamstring) will be assessed after coming off 20 minutes into the loss at Parkway.
