DORCHESTER Town assistant James Wood expressed his satisfaction with most aspects of the Magpies’ 3-0 win over Hanwell Town.
Coming into the game with three successive losses, Dorchester nipped that trend in the bud as Charlie Gunson scored two direct free-kicks after Jordan Ngalo’s fine finish from 18 yards.
Both sides ended with ten men after separate incidents, Adam Laaref shown yellow twice in two minutes and Matty Neale earning a straight red after a collision with goalkeeper Max Merrick.
Neale’s red was only a very minor blip on the Magpies’ copybook, with three goals, three points and a clean sheet the biggest positives.

Speaking to Dorchester’s media team post-match, Wood said: “Really pleased.
“First and foremost, the most important thing was a clean sheet, which we desperately needed after recent performances.
“To get the three goals and three points, it caps off a really good afternoon for us.
“Any side can sustain the odd isolated defeat. When they become twos, threes you’ve got to address that, which we did.
“We knew back at home it is slightly different for us with the brand of football we try and play. Back to front I thought everyone was excellent and thoroughly deserved the three points.”
Gunson took man-of-the-match honours after his brace, taking his league tally to eight goals this season.
“We know Charlie’s got that with his delivery and his direct free-kicks have always been a threat for us this season,” Wood said.
“He’s got a great strike on him and we’re really pleased he’s got his two goals. He caused them problems in that number nine position.
“And he dropped deep, gave us extra numbers in midfield. I was pleased for him but pleased for everyone. From one to 11 and the boys that came on, we were really good.”
Ngalo’s goal, his first league strike in almost six months, got the ball rolling for Dorchester and Wood called for the ex-Aldershot and Weymouth midfielder to add more goals to his arsenal.
Wood said: “Jordan needs to add goals to his game, he’s very much part of our starting attacks, if you want, in that pivot position.
“When he starts driving in and around the box he’s a threat and he’s got a good strike on him. I’m pleased for Jordan as well.”
On Neale’s red, Wood added: “From what I can see I thought he had every right to go for the ball. I think it was a coming together.
“They arrived at the same time and I don’t think there was any malice in it from Matty’s point of view.
“He definitely hasn’t gone in to do the keeper, he’s gone in to win the ball. Obviously, tempers were a little fraught after their sending off.
“You can often see that if there’s another altercation, the referees do tend to reach for that red card.
“I don’t think it was a red card. It’s something we’ll look at on Veo.”
He added: “I’d never want to take (away) a player’s desire to go for that ball because I think he had every right to go for it.
“You’re 3-0 up and he probably could’ve avoided that, but that’s being really overcritical and Matty was excellent.”
Dorchester travel to Plymouth Parkway tomorrow (7.45pm).
