SANDSFOOT SIRENS 24
WJNC WILDCATS 48
SOUTH & West Dorset League Division Two leaders WJNC Wildcats continued their perfect record with a 14th win from 14 games, Sandsfoot Sirens their latest victims.
Both teams started strong, with strong defence from both sides meaning the fast, attacking play throughout centre court did not always flow well into the circle.
Wildcats’ C Abi Pearson made some great interceptions, which put pressure on Sandsfoot. After a very close first-quarter, the score was tied at eight goals each.

The tight scoreline put lots of pressure on both teams at the start of second quarter.
Sandsfoot GK Christine Jones came up with lots of interceptions for her team, while all shooters on court were shooting accurately from distance. Wildcats then picked up the pace and took the lead going into half-time.
Throughout the third quarter, Wildcats used fast passes that were too quick for Sandsfoot to intercept, their shooters maintained their consistency in third quarter, and their defence made it difficult for Sandsfoot to get the ball into their attacking end.
This dominance across the court saw Wildcats extend their lead significantly going into the fourth quarter.
It was a quiet start to the final quarter, as there was potentially some fatigue setting in.
Slower, weaker passes from both teams created lots of turnovers across the court.
Sandsfoot worked hard but Wildcats had already built up enough of a lead to take the game 48-24.
ZEST 30
WJNC WAVES 40
WILDCATS’ clubmates WJNC Waves claimed a 40-30 win over Zest in Division Two.
There was initially lots of strong defence at either end of this match, with several players picking up interceptions.
Waves’ GS Niamh Seeley dominated in their attack, scoring most of their goals.
Waves gradually began to dominate the first quarter with their fast speed of play.
The pace continued to be frantic in the second quarter as Waves’ defenders made it difficult for Zest’s shooters, picking up lots of interceptions in their shooting circle.
Play then slowed down in third quarter, which worked in Zest’s favour, and they managed to claw back a few goals on the scoreboard following a strong performance across the court.
Zest’s third-quarter comeback and accurate shooting from their GS Emma Mills made for a closely contested final quarter.
Waves, however, secured the win, thanks to excellent interceptions from several players all over court.
