DORCHESTER Town have wrongs to right when they make the trip to bottom side North Leigh tonight (7.45pm), according to manager Glenn Howes.

Howes was dismayed by the manner of the performance that led to a 3-0 loss at Tiverton on Saturday.

The ex-Totton and Blackfield boss felt the display was out of keeping with the Magpies’ excellent season to date, Dorchester currently occupying seventh.

And Howes is determined for his players to make amends as Dorchester target the double over the Millers following their 2-1 win on the opening day.

He told Echosport: “We’ve had a nice constructive conversation and they know they can do better, we know we can do better as a management and coaching team.

“We let everybody down but (tonight) comes around very quickly to put things right. It is only one performance, so we’re not going to over-exaggerate or over-analyse.

“Frustratingly we wanted to kick on after Swindon last week, that really hurt us. There was an opportunity to push higher up the table.

“It’s how we test our characters and personalities now.”

On North Leigh, who are battling to avoid relegation just as Dorchester did last season, Howes added: “They’re fighting for their lives.

“If we think they’re going to roll over and let us take the points we’d be completely misled.

“It’s a difficult environment to go and play in, not too dissimilar to Tiverton.

“We have to get our heads around that first, we have to make sure our attitude and application is right.

“Then, see if we can make them suffer early on and take full control of that game, which we have full intent of doing.”

One positive for Dorchester is the lack of injuries to their squad, with Harvey Bradbury the only absentee while serving the second of a four-game suspension.

Howes joked: “No injuries, that’s probably the only positive from (Saturday)!”
