WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson reserved special praise for Ahkeem Rose and Brad Ash after the Terras beat Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Rose scored a brace after Johl Powell had given Dulwich a seventh-minute lead, giving the Terras back-to-back home league wins for the first time since April 2021.

Rose netted a goal in each half after Ash had missed a penalty, but the striker bounced back with a key interception and assist for the winning goal.

And Ash’s good work for that goal saw his efforts highlighted by Wilkinson, along with Rose’s star turn.

Of Rose, Wilkinson told Echosport: “He’s a special talent.

“But, as I keep saying in my interviews, we don’t score goals if we haven’t got a fantastic 16 men.

“You can see what I’m building here. I never have it about individuals. He’ll take the plaudits because he scored two brilliant goals and I understand that.

“Every man gave me a ten out of ten for work rate. We tried to do a high press and don’t let them play out. I thought we did that really well.

“At times, I thought we were outstanding and at times I thought we could do better. That’s football.

“Let’s not beat about the bush, (Rose) doesn’t get the second unless Brad shows what a team player he is. I hope that gets singled out.

“He could’ve shot, he’s one on one, cuts it back. I speak about this all the time. The hero for me was the one who passed it for the tap-in.

“I’m so proud of Brad, especially when he’s missed a penalty. He didn’t dwell on it and just got on with it like a Weymouth player.”

Rose picked up a groin issue in the final 15 minutes, giving Wilkinson a dilemma with Scott Rees (ribs) and Tom Blair (calf) injured concurrently.

He said: “I was going to take him straight off but as I was bringing him off he didn’t want to come off.

“Players are getting whacks, injuries and they just want to stay on. They’re fighting for the badge.

“Tom needed to come off but said no. Rosey needed to come off but said no.

“Well, stay on then boys. That’s so satisfying for me. They don’t want to come off now with a little niggle.

“I’ll tell you why, because they don’t want to lose their place and they want to win a game of football. You can see the tide’s turning in that mindset.”

Wilkinson also confirmed Will Dawes was omitted from the squad due to the Terras fielding five loanees – the maximum permitted in a matchday 16.

Luke Nippard, Wilkinson added, was left out despite being fully fit.
